A few years later, Mercedes-Benz released their newest S-Class with the more economical 7-speed automatic transmission, which was set as a technological standard. Now, Lexus is offering a whopping 8-speed transmission on the new LS and apparently, by reports made by
Automotive News, the new redesigned 7-Series will up the standard by offering a 8-speed transmission as well. Hmm, how ironic. The next 7-series should arrive near 2009 or 2010, so maybe by then we will find a 9-speed transmission on the 7? Maybe, just maybe.
