NEW 2011 FORD RANGER DESIGN

Ford's best seller sedan, Ford Focus coming to India
This new Ford Focus, a good looking sedan in the D segment will have to compete with the likes of Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis. Ford Fiesta Raih "Car of The Year 2010"
Baru diluncurkan di Indonesia, Agustus lalu, Ford Fiesta berhasil menyabet penghargaan "Car of The Year 2010" versi majalah Autobild Indonesia. Kendaraan hatchback Ford ini menyisihkan dua pesaing terkuatnya, yakni Mitsubishi Pajero Sport dan VW Golf.
Hendra Noor Saleh, Chief Editor Autobild Indonesia, mengatakan, tahun ini Autobild Award (AB Award) keenam mengalami penyempurnaan kategori agar lebih fair bagi seluruh peserta. Salah satunya, pembagian kategori di kelas sport utility vehicle (SUV) yang dibagi mulai dari Best Small Hatchback hingga Big Luxury SUV. Sekali lagi, penambahan ini adalah respons kami terhadap tren pasar global.
"Kami berharap penghargaan ini bisa menjadi salah satu acuan konsumen dalam memilih produk di Indonesia," ujar Hendra kepada Kompas.com, di sela-sela acara penobatan di Four Season Hotel, Jakarta Selatan, Selasa (16/11/2010) ini.
Will Angove, Presiden Direktur PT Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI), mengatakan, penghargaan ini diharapkan bisa mendorong penjualan produk terbaru Fiesta di Indonesia. "Produk ini memang berkualitas tak hanya dari desain dan fitur, tapi juga memiliki value for money yang kompetitif, melihat harganya yang kompetitif dan biaya perawatan yang rendah dari model-model lain di kelasnya," jelas Will.
Sementara itu, AB Award 2010, yang diikuti 72 kendaraan dengan bertarung di 23 kelas, juga memberikan penghargaan individual kepada figur yang dinilai berperan penting terhadap kemajuan dunia otomotif Tanah Air. Sosok Johnny Darmawan, Presiden Direktur PT Toyota Astra Motor dan juga Ketua III Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia (Gaikindo), menjadi person yang diganjar Lifetime Achievement di AB Award 2010 ini.

Ford Figo Jadi Model Global
Ford Figo yang semula diciptakan untuk pasar India kini ditingkatkan menjadi model global dengan ekspor utuh (CBU) 7.000 unit ke Afrika Selatan sepanjang tahun lalu. Ford Motor Company mencoba memperluas pasar city car ini ke 50 negara, seperti dilansir Rushlane.com (24/1/2011).
"Meski fokus utama kami memproduksi dan memasarkan kendaraan di India, kami juga mencari peluang tujuan ekspor baru," ujar Michael Boneham, Presiden sekaligus Direktur Pelaksana Ford India. "Negara baru yang coba dibidik termasuk Meksiko, Afrika Utara, dan Timur Tengah, yang dimulai tahun depan," katanya.
Figo menggunakan mesin diesel 1,4 liter Duratorq common rail bertenaga 69 PS pada 4.000 rpm dan 1,2 liter bensin dengan tenaga. Keduanya menggunakan transmisi 5 percepatan manual dan dibanderol 349.900 rupe (Rp 69,7 juta) per unit di pasar lokal.
Apakah Figo nantinya masuk Indonesia? PT Ford Motor Indonesia belum mau memberikan komentar karena masih fokus pada penjualan model terbaru Fiesta yang baru diluncurkan Agustus 2010.
Jempol! Garapan Bumi Parahyangan
Mobil rongsok yang sudah dianggap besi tua, bisa dikembalikan seperti terlahir pertama oleh siapa pun, asal punya modal kuat. Tapi, tidak demikian dengan Danny, pemilik Ford 1941 yang ditemukannya dalam kondisi "mengenaskan". Ia tertantang, tak cuma agar pikap itu bisa mengaspal, tapi ingin dibikin gaya hot rod.
"Saya belajar bagaimana menjiwai sebuah mobil, membangunnya secara detail demi detail," ungkapnya. Karena, semangat hot rod yang diusung, maka penampilan dan tenaga mesti punya keseimbangan seperti Yin dan Yang.
Untuk mengubah tampilan Ford jadi gagah seperti ini butuh waktu 4 tahun. Bodi sama sekali dirombak total (99,9 persen), seperti apron depan dirancang ulang. Unsur metal dan tarikan garis lurus melintang jadi pola utamanya dikombinasi dengan lampu utama comotan dari Mini Cooper. Salah satu pekerjaan sulit memadukan lampu utama dengan sepatbor (melengkung)," terang Danny.
Bagian kabin, karena aliran hot rod, ibarat kepala manusia punya dahi nong-nong, maka ketinggian atap disunat. Ruang kabin dirancang lebih lebar dengan memundurkan pilar B, sehingga volume lebih lega.
Pindah ke belakang, bak dibikin sangat rapi berlantai akrilik untuk mengekspos gardan, tangki bensin berlapis krom serta kaki-kaki. Trus, di atas akrilik teronggok tabung nitrous tipe NX yang lokasinya berdekatan dengan tabung krum sebagai pemyimpan udara untuk air suspensi.
Bagaimana dengan mesin? Tak mau kepalang tanggung, Danny langsung menjejelkan jantung pacu dari Amerika, yakni big block V8 7.400 cc. "Blok mesinnya cari-cari di Indonesia lantas direparasi ulang, namun jeroannya baru semua," kenangnya. Hmm, 400 HP saja, sih, katanya sudah di tangan.
Kerja keras yang patut diacungi dua jempol.
Recall do EcoSport e Fiesta
A Ford emitiu um chamado para recall envolvendo as versões hatch e sedã do Fiesta modelo 2008 e 2009 e EcoSport modelos 2007, 2008 e 2009. O motivo, para os modelos em questão, envolve "o mecanismo da trava de segurança das portas traseiras e a respectiva instrução de manuseio constante no manual do proprietário", explica a fabricante em comunicado. A Fundação Procon-SP acrescenta que ainda que " a empresa informa ter constatado a possibilidade de variações dimensionais do mecanismo". A Ford anunciou que realizará uma inspeção e, se preciso, efetuará a substituição da fechadura envolvida.
Com relação ao EcoSport modelo 2011, a Ford explica que pode ocorrer "divergência nas instruções de acionamento da trava de segurança para impedir a abertura interna das portas traseiras".
Nos dois casos, o principal risco maior é a abertura da porta traseira quando os puxadores internos são acionados, mesmo com a trava de segurança acionada, o que pode causar acidentes. O atendimento terá início no dia 24 de janeiro e todos os envolvidos devem entrar em contato com a Ford pelo telefone 0800 703 3673 ou acessar www.ford.com.br.

It should be noted that Ford entered this field by selling an electric version of the Transit Connect van last year. Currently, there is not a tough competition existing for Ford and their new elctric version of Focus, but in the near future itself, they have to face it all since the other competitors are planning to introduce electrics soon into the US market.
This new electric version of Ford Focus sedan is expected to go upto 100 miles on a single electric charge itself. Ford said Focus can be fully charged in three to four hours using a 240-volt outlet, which is only half the time taken by it's competitor, Nissan Leaf. They also claimed its fuel efficiency numbers is very much competitive with that of Leaf.
It's hearing that Focus will have a unique, Microsoft-designed powering feature that will charge the vehicle during off-peak hours, when utility rates are cheapest, to save on electric bills. It also has a touchscreen with information such as the amount of charge left, the distance to the next charging station and the amount of gasoline saved.
The price at which this new electric version of Ford Focus sedan gets available in the US market is not yet revealed by the officials, but they have clearly stated one fact that they are planning to introduce four other electric vehicles in North America and Europe over the next two years.
